Biography
Ian is the Director to Accelerate Impact in Latin America, where he develops systems change strategies for each ecosystem in the region. He has been with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) since 2006 and has held various roles within the organization. Ian has led TNC's Brazil program and has also been the executive director of TNC's Amazon Conservation Program.
After earning a Master of Science in forestry from Oxford University, he embarked on a career to apply his forestry expertise to development issues in Nepal and then in the Brazilian Amazon. He held various leadership positions with the British Department for International Development (DFID) and the European Community, as well as consulting roles with a variety of forestry organizations. Ian has lived in the Brazilian Amazon for 25 years and was instrumental in developing TNC’s systemic transformation approach. Ian is fluent in English and Portuguese and proficient in Spanish. An avid birdwatcher, this hobby keeps Ian deeply connected to nature.
