Learning in Virginia

A hand holds up a leaf against the sky. Sunlight flares through the small round holes that insects have eaten into the leaf.
Learning Opportunities Through university partnerships and Virginia's Short Term Experience Program we're creating educational and career opportunities for the next generation of conservationists.

For some college students in Virginia, their classroom experiences may include getting hip deep in muddy muck, analyzing coyote scat or navigating drones over forest plots. It’s all part of our collaboration with colleges and universities across the commonwealth, providing living laboratories for the next generation of conservationists.

Using the tabs below, explore these partnerships, learn more about our Short Term Experience Program, meet our Summer 2024 intern cohort and discover how students are helping The Nature Conservancy (TNC) expand our outreach to underserved communities and enrich our understanding of the places we protect.
