Our Strategic Approach

Protecting and conserving North Carolina's natural treasures. Together, we have protected 745,000 acres across the state

Land Protection

We protect and connect North Carolina’s unique lands, creating healthier habitats for wildlife and improving air quality and recreation opportunities for communities.

Climate Action

We work to address the impacts of extreme weather events across the state through nature-based solutions like peatland restoration.

Water Program

We protect and restore North Carolina’s rivers, streams and wetlands to improve water quality, reduce flooding and support healthy communities and wildlife.

Controlled Burning

We use controlled burning to manage and restore longleaf pine and Appalachian forests, which reduces hazardous fuels while improving wildlife habitat.

Conservation in the Southern U.S.

We work with partners across the Southern U.S. to address conservation challenges that extend beyond state lines and create greater regional impact.
