Investing in Nature for People and the Planet

"Making peace with nature is the defining task of the 21st century."

António Guterres,
Secretary-General of the United Nations

The time is now to put nature on the balance sheet. We cannot have healthy, prosperous societies if we don’t protect the natural systems on which they depend. And that requires a transformational shift in how we value nature.

The world has made incredible strides in developing solutions that unlock finance for nature and climate. Yet we still struggle to get money to the countries that need it most. The UN reports some 60% of low-income nations—many of whom are the most vulnerable to climate change—are at risk of or already in debt distress, limiting their ability to protect their biodiversity and overcome climate threats. The ripple effects are global.

Now is the time to expand our financial solutions to make a truly global investment in nature.

Financial Solutions for All

The Nature Conservancy’s innovative financing mechanisms have led the way for conservation efforts that are effective, sustainable, and can be deployed anywhere in the world.

TNC partners with governments, civil society and businesses to expand the opportunities for nature finance. Our Nature Bonds and Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) models offer some of the most powerful tools to help nations meet their climate and conservation commitments—while also benefiting local and national economies.
