The Nature Conservancy is hosting a guided hike and celebration on Friday, June 14th, at the Platte River Prairies in Wood River from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. All are welcome.
The Nature Conservancy will show new trail amenities and share some new and upcoming building improvements. Director of Science Chris Helzer will lead a guided ecology hike.
There are two trails available—one west, one east. The west trail winds through the restored lowland prairie, where a former crop field was seeded with over 200 native species since 1999. The east trail passes through both restored and native (unplowed) sandhills prairie.
The trail is open from sunrise to sunset every day, and there is no cost to use it.
There is parking available at TNC’s headquarters: 13650 South Platte River Drive, Wood River, Nebraska.
