Clouds over a rolling savanna in Colombia.

Overview

Event Overview

The Orinoquia plains are vast tropical savannas that connect the Andres and the Amazon. This mega-biodiverse region is one of The Nature Conservancy’s top conservation priorities due to its ability to be a lighthouse for a new standard of sustainable living on our planet.

Juliana Delgado, TNC Science Director for Colombia, will share our understanding of the region’s climate and how implementing nature-based solutions in the region are adding to Colombia's climate resiliency. You’ll also hear from TNC Wisconsin Trustee Ankur Desai, the Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, who will highlight how Wisconsin and Colombia's climates affect each other and speak to how the work in Colombia can impact the global climate.
