Biography

Jason Milks works on the Natural Climate Solutions team as U.S. Reforestation Program Director. Jason has been working in conservation of forest ecosystems for 22 years. He joined The Nature Conservancy in 2005 and worked as private lands project manager and burn boss. For the last 10 years, he has focused on increasing reforestation and wetland restoration in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley using public/private partnerships, improving water conservation on rice-dominated agricultural lands, restoring stream and floodplain function and developing a carbon-financed reforestation project with the American Forest Foundation and other non-government organizations (NGOs), private foundations, public agencies and corporations.  

He previously worked as an ecologist with the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and a waterfowl technician with Ducks Unlimited. Jason received a bachelor’s degree in fish and wildlife management from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a master’s degree in forest ecology from the University of Arkansas—Monticello. He enjoys recreating outdoors, especially waterfowl hunting or fly fishing, with his family, Ashley O’Neal, Basham Milks and Hannalee Milks. They live in Sherwood, Arkansas.
