Emily Howe

Emily Howe is an aquatic ecologist at The Nature Conservancy’s cities, land and water programs. She holds a PhD from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington, with a focus on estuarine restoration and food web ecology in tidally influenced ecosystems. Her work integrates across ecosystem boundaries, investigating how landscape configuration and management shapes cross-boundary relationships for food webs, organisms and ecosystem processes. She is currently working at the nexus of stormwater pollution, green infrastructure and restoration ecology in freshwater and marine ecosystems. When she's not at work, she's happiest exploring big wild places with her family—backpacking, climbing and camping near the snowcaps, and sailing, paddling, clamming, crabbing and mucking about in the Salish Sea.
