Water Security
Use nature to secure clean water supplies for 25 of Latin America's most at-risk cities.
CHALLENGE:
Latin America is rich in water, but it is unevenly distributed. Climate change is increasing risks of scarcity and flooding, and most cities lack inclusive governance platforms for managing water quantity and quality for people, nature, and development.
SOLUTIONS:
Create Water Funds for the region’s largest cities, channeling public and private investment from downstream water users into sustainable, upstream watershed protection, with transparent governance to enhance water security and resilience to climate change.
KEY PARTNERS:
IDB, Femsa, Coca Cola, Pepsi, AB Inbev, Mexichem, regional coalitions, local operators, and governments authorities—particularly in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil.
